League Capitalizes on New York-Boston Rivalry
Much to the chagrin of just about every team in the league, the USCL today released their 2010 schedule, which includes New York and Boston playing each other 9 times in the regular season.
New York and Boston will also gets to play cross-town rivals Manhattan and New England respectively in their one other game.
USCL Commissioner, Greg Shahade, detailed the reasons for this strange decision. “This exciting change from our regular, mundane schedules is for two main reasons. Firstly, the New York-Boston rivalry is the greatest in the USCL and we want to give the fans a reason to get excited and tune into the league each week. Secondly, it will just about ensure that one of those two teams don’t make the play-offs as it is getting a little boring seeing them both make it to the USCL Championship each year.”
In another piece of strange scheduling by the Commissioner, his home town, Philadelphia, will get to play Carolina 6 times. With Tennessee out of the picture, Carolina may be seen as the easiest team to face on any of the schedules and so this move practically ensures that Philadelphia will finish on 6 points, a figure that most experts feel will be just enough to make the play-offs.
Over in the Western Division, most teams will continue their normal schedules although it is predicted that not many people will be too interested in what is going on given the New York-Boston matches.
